Comedy is a big part of the action in the new 2016 Spring and Summer season at The Georgian Theatre Royal.
The laughter begins on 19 February with the star of BBC1’s Live at the Apollo, Simon Evans (pictured). Known for his acerbic wit, Simon will be looking at – among other things – why the French don’t want to own their own home and why Americans are literally made out of corn. He will be followed by award-winning writer and comedian Rob Auton who is bringing his 2015 sell-out Edinburgh Fringe show to Richmond on 18 March. Labelled as “a genuine original” by The Guardian, he was also Poet in Residence at the Glastonbury Festival. Finally, taking a turn at the comedy mike on 10 April is everyone’s favourite grumpy old woman Jenny Eclair who will be dishing out advice on how to survive middle age without going insane.
Also known for their side-splitting humour is The People Show – Britain’s longest-running alternative theatre company who will be celebrating their 50th anniversary on 8 June. After a short People Show film screening, they will be performing their newest stage show, Seagull Noir – an international adventure that traverses land, sea and air.
There is also plenty of contemporary drama, first-class musical entertainment, popular children's shows and much, much more. Pick up your free copy of the new season's brochure from the Box Office or see the full list of shows in the What's On section of this website.
