Olivier Award-winning OperaUpClose is bringing its new production of Mozart's joyous 'The Marriage of Figaro' to the Georgian Theatre on Saturday 7 February. Bursting with great tunes and laugh-out-loud comedy, it's little wonder that Figaro is one of the world's best-loved operas.
Directed by Sarah Tipple, who has revived Anthony Minghella's Madam Butterfly for ENO and delighted audiences with her hilarious, award-winning Barbershopera productions, and with 18th century-with-a-twist set and costumes by Ricardo Pardo, this promises to be a highly inventive and theatrical production.
The show received a host of four-star national reviews during its London run including the following:
"Maximum impact. Every bit of eye contact and every gesture means something." The Evening Standard
"Inspirational. Cherubino's love song and the Countess's 'Dove sono' would sound at home in Covent Garden." The Independent
"Terrific fun... sung and acted so beautifully." Time Out
Make sure you don't miss this fabulous production.
