The Georgian Theatre Royal’s guided heritage tours have once again been accredited as a VisitEngland Quality Assured Visitor Attraction, achieving excellent results in an assessment visit earlier this month.
VisitEngland is the official tourist board for England and the scheme offers a recognised endorsement of standards, looking at the whole visitor experience from pre-arrival information to the presentation of displays and customer care.
The Georgian Theatre Experience - comprising a fully guided tour and a visit to the recently opened, interactive exhibition area - scored an overall mark of 88%. This was way above the 60% needed to achieve accreditation, with all individual assessment criteria deemed as ‘very good’ or ‘excellent’.
Whilst praising the “very well presented, quality museum area”, the assessment report particularly commented on the staff and volunteers who were described as “both welcoming and knowledgeable” and made reference to the “exceptionally skilled tour guide that ensured the delights of the Theatre were shared with the whole tour party.”
The attraction is currently ranked first out of 28 places to visit in Richmond on Trip Advisor and has been shortlisted for a 2018 prestigious White Rose Award by Welcome to Yorkshire.
