Re-create the elegance of the Georgian period with this free hat-making workshop on Thursday 23 March between 1.45pm and 3.45pm.
Join professional milliner Claire Spooner for an introduction to reproducing a Georgian-style straw hat from the 1780s. This fun, relaxed workshop will use basic techniques to re-form an existing straw hat base and trim it with fabrics, ribbons and feathers.
Materials and tools will be provided but participants are encouraged to bring their own sewing kit and a natural straw hat base. Charity shops can be a good source for these. No experience is required beyond a basic running stitch.
The event is part of the Theatre's Costume Group Project but is open to non-members subject to availability. Please contact Susie Wood (email: firstname.lastname@example.org) by Monday 20th March to book your place.
