THE GEORGIAN THEATRE ROYAL YOUTH THEATRE – WENSLEYDALE
The Georgian Theatre Royal is very excited to be taking over the Youth Theatre in Wensleydale formerly known as WeSPA.
Led by experienced professional Sue Hedges (who has already successfully run the Wensleydale classes for three years), the classes will now come under the banner of the Georgian Theatre Royal’s Youth Theatre. This means that students will be offered a wider range of theatre and drama skills, confidence and performance techniques as well as the unique opportunity to perform on-stage the UK’s oldest working theatre in its original form! Backstage skills and lighting design will also be offered to students with support from the Theatre’s staff member Tony Wilcocks.
Students will be working towards a new production to be staged in the Georgian Theatre Royal in Summer 2012. Spaces are available for junior school and senior school age students.
Classes take place in term time on Wednesdays
Venue: The Drama Studio, Wensleydale School, Leyburn.
Junior age group: 5–6.30pm
Senior age group: 6.30–8pm
Interested in joining? Parents can simply bring their child along to the drama studio on a Wednesday where the tutors will give you the necessary forms to complete. Alternatively, ring01748 823710 or email Jo Education Coordinator at the Georgian Theatre for full details.
The Georgian Theatre Royal currently runs seven groups through the week in our Richmond theatre studio to an extremely high standard, and very much look forward to the Wensleydale students being our flagship outreach group. |
