Hope Springs

"...It's a good place to get thinking done...a good place to work your hate into a fine, sharp point."

Hope Springs is a "correctional facility" - the last refuge of desperate parents, unable to control their teenagers. Trapped on an isolated island, the system is designed to break them, reform them as model citizens, return to their homes and be grateful for the process.

A single, shocking event changes Hope Springs forever. The pupils rebel and communications are cut. Shortly afterwards outsiders arrive to find out what happened and are tumbled headlong into the reality of what Hope Springs was like.

Hope Springs asks disturbing questions about power, change and how far people are prepared to go when the pressure gets too great to bear. Combining movement, music and powerful, humorous dialogue, the cast evoke both oppression and the routes out of it.
