In a remote corner of the Yorkshire Dales, somewhere along the Corpse Way, young Kit Harker lives with his widowed mother, Sarah, as she desperately tries to keep their pub running. Fortunately a large funeral party will shortly be arriving to mourn the passing of Dan Ottershaw, an old miner; for Sarah this means her biggest booking in months, but for Dobson the funeral director it means the chance to get better acquainted with Sarah. And as for Kit, he will take the journey of a lifetime with a new friend. Originally staged at open air venues with a cast of professionals and amateurs (including Youth Theatre members who now return in different roles), this community play is a moving account of the threads that join the past to the present. Presented with permission of Nobby Dimon and AiR Listen to Youth Theatre cast on Radio Teesdale: Sponsored by the Friends of the Theatre Royal / Friends ticket offer. |
