Opera Restor'd is a touring company specialising in seventeenth and eighteenth century English opera and music theatre. Following the success of The Apothecary, Joseph Haydn's opera of 1768, performed at the Georgian Theatre in October 2006, Opera Restor'd returns with a new exciting staged production.
Love's Labyrinth is a fully-staged miniature opera with music by Purcell and his contemporaries (Jeremiah Clarke, John Eccles, Pelham Humfrey and Francis King) accompanied by harpsichord, theorbo and bass viol.
Love's Labyrinth celebrates the delights of the poetry as well as the music of Restoration England in this innovative production illustrating the desire, the yearning, the frustrations and reconciliations, the humour and poignancy of love.
