Resurrection of Little Sarah

The Resurrection of Little Sarah tells the true and sad story of Saartjie Baartman, a former South African slave who journeyed to London in 1810 to make her fortune. Saartjie Baartman or The Hottentot Venus as she was known, became the main attraction in a circus style freak show because of the extraordinary size of her bottom. New and vibrant, Unity Arts is a company wishing to stay true to the style and presentation of traditional Black African Theatre - one that involved comedy, mime, poetry, song, dance, acting and music and was very much a means of confronting issues that beset individuals and societies through storytelling.

Committed to the concept that Theatre can have social function beyond that of entertainment, The Resurrection of Little Sarah is an emotionally and intellectually-stimulating work using multimedia arts and contemporary dance, drama and music.
