Booklovers are set for an author talk with a difference on Tuesday 19 September, with the hilarious tale of a real Georgian actress.

West End actress Letitia Sage brought va-va-voom to the balloon when she set out to make history – but with more unexpected twists than a hit farce, a Georgian playwright could not have given the Mrs Sage balloon show of 1785 a better plot.

“Where better to enjoy the sensational true story of feisty, fearless 18th-century actress Letitia Sage than The Georgian Theatre Royal?” says Sharon Wright, who wrote the show based on research for her book The Lost History of The Lady Aeronauts.
“Letitia showed immense courage when she made history, but a naughty aeronautical legend has overshadowed her achievement for more than 200 years. Finally, we can reveal the truth about what really happened on that pioneering flight.”
Actress Abigail Halley, who plays the pioneering Letitia Sage, adds: “It’s high time the true story of the fabulous Mrs Sage was told! Even though it is a bit rude, to be honest.”
