Richmond Operatic Society has opened its latest production, Little Shop of Horrors, at The  Georgian Theatre Royal, bringing the cult musical favourite to Richmond audiences in spectacular style.

Running until Saturday 23 May, the darkly comic show follows shy florist Seymour Krelborn, whose discovery of a mysterious and fast-growing plant soon leads to unexpected fame, fortune and danger. Packed with catchy songs, comedy and larger-than-life characters, the musical combines Motown, doo-wop and rock and roll influences with a story that is both hilarious and sinister.

Directed by Brodey Laudon, the production features striking costumes, energetic choreography and a vibrant live soundtrack under the musical direction of James Wenham.

Leading the cast are Ben Fitzpatrick as Seymour and Chloe Reid as Audrey, alongside  supporting performances from Stephen Mark, Kevin Murray, Caitlin Smith, Freya Woodward and Natasha Wood.

One of the show’s biggest talking points is Audrey II, the giant blood-thirsty plant at the centre of the story. Created by the Society’s in-house team, the puppet is brought to life by puppeteers Steph Williamson and Cameron Wallace, with powerful vocals from Scott Edwards.

Blending humour, horror and unforgettable music, Little Shop of Horrors promises a hugely entertaining evening of live theatre. Tickets are available now from the Theatre Box Office and website.
