Jazz fans have a new date for their diaries as the Good Vibes Trio joins our Autumn programme on Thursday 12 November.
Featuring local favourites John and Jane Hunter alongside acclaimed multi-instrumentalist John Padfield, the trio promises an evening of live jazz spanning straight-ahead swing, cool Latin grooves, jazz-funk and a few surprises along the way.
John and Jane’s distinctive piano-and-vibraphone combination draws inspiration from the timeless sounds of George Shearing and Nat King Cole. John Padfield, an accomplished saxophonist, clarinettist and flautist, has toured extensively across the UK, helps run Liverpool Jazz Club and has performed with some big names over the past two decades.
“For the three of us to perform on this stage is amazing,” says John Hunter. “Jane and I have played together throughout our 34-year marriage and I first performed with John Padfield when we were at university in the late 1970s.”
Following a string of sell-out jazz nights at Richmond Station, the trio makes its Georgian Theatre Royal debut, bringing decades of musical experience and a wealth of chemistry to the stage.
The evening will also feature a special appearance by newly formed chorale The Swaletones, who will sing a number in each half of the show. It will be their first public performance.
Good Vibes Trio takes place on Thursday 12 November. Tickets are available from the Georgian Theatre Royal Box Office or online.
