One story, two acts, three actors – and a jaw-dropping twist that proves it’s not what you say, but the way that you say it.
We’re delighted to be hosting the brilliantly inventive play Switcheroo on Friday 6 and Saturday 7 June – fresh from a sell-out run at York Theatre Royal.
Presented by Clap Trap Theatre in association with York Theatre Royal, Switcheroo features Thomas Frere, Cal Stocksbridge, and Dominic Goodwin – three actors who are no strangers to Richmond audiences and who bring exceptional comic and dramatic talents to the stage.
Written by BAFTA-nominated Tom Needham, this remarkable production is based on a simple but powerful premise: “It’s not what you say, it’s the way that you say it.”
The story begins with three siblings coming together to scatter their mother’s ashes – but their reunion is interrupted by a shocking family revelation that sends shockwaves through their lives.
In the first act, the story is performed as a larger-than-life comedy, full of big laughs and quick wit. Then, after the interval, something extraordinary happens: the actors swap characters, and the exact same story is retold – but this time as a serious drama.
The transformation is astonishing. How can the same words, spoken by the same actors, have such a dramatically different effect?
There’s only one way to find out…
Don’t miss this unique and thought-provoking theatrical experience, which showcases the brilliance of live performance and the extraordinary skill of the cast and creative team.
Switcheroo plays at the Georgian Theatre Royal for two nights only – Friday 6 and Saturday 7 June. Limited tickets are still available.
