School's out - exciting summer activities are in!

Big top adventures await young stars!

School’s out, and we are inviting young people to step into the spotlight with two exciting, circus-themed events this August.

Designed to inspire creativity and teach new skills, the Theatre’s summer activities offer opportunities for children and teenagers to explore the world of performance in a fun and supportive environment.

Running from Monday 4 to Saturday 9 August, the Musical Theatre Summer School is aimed at young people aged 11 to 18. Over the course of the week, participants will develop their acting, singing and movement skills while working together to create an original musical production, Smoke and Mirrors, set in a thrilling and mysterious circus world.

The week culminates in a fully staged public performance on the Theatre’s historic stage at 7pm on Saturday 9 August. The course costs £80 and tickets to the final performance are available to the public for £9.

Younger children aged 6 to 11 can enjoy a one-day drama workshop on Tuesday 12 August, offering a playful and imaginative introduction to life under the big top. Through drama games, storytelling and performance, participants will bring to life colourful circus characters and discover the joy of theatre-making. The workshop costs £20 per student.

Both events are led by the Theatre’s Youth Theatre Manager, Aimee Shields, who brings a wealth of experience in youth drama and education.

“These workshops are a brilliant opportunity for young people to express themselves, build confidence and have lots of fun,” said Aimee. “Whether they’re seasoned performers or just curious to try something new, there’s a place for everyone under our theatrical big top!”

Places are limited and booking is essential by 30 July. To reserve a place or find out more, contact the Youth Theatre team at youth@georgiantheatreroyal.co.uk or call 01748 825252.
