Star award for Paul!

Star award for Paul!

Congratulations to our Front of House Manager, Paul Gilpin, who picked up a Star Award at this year's Business Excellence Awards.

Paul also received a Highly Commended Certificate in the Outstanding Employee category of the 2024 Business Excellence Awards organised by The Original Richmond Business and Tourism Association in partnership with The Company of Mercers, Grocers and Haberdashers of Richmond.

The awards celebrate the variety and quality of businesses in Richmond and the surrounding area, along with the people who run and work in them.

Paul Gilpin has been Front of House Manager at The Georgian Theatre Royal for 10 years and looks after our 8000+ visitors per year whether they come along to see a show or take a guided tour.

Paul understands people. He has a knack to entertain, and that is even before the audience have made it into the auditorium for the show!  He certainly has the gift of the gab, but also an extensive knowledge of the Theatre which enables him to steer a steady ship.

He really comes into his own during our annual pantomime. Being front of house for all 52 shows is quite a challenge, but Paul welcomes everyone, ensuring that audience members have what they need and making sure that they have a great experience while at the Theatre. Paul is not only passionate about the Theatre but is also a huge advocate for Richmond - always giving information on where to go next in the town, whether that be the other attractions or somewhere for lunch or coffee. He will always direct people to local businesses and make sure to promote our wonderful town.

In addition to his Theatre work, Paul is a volunteer at the Richmondshire Museum on his days off and enjoys researching and learning about Richmond’s rich history.

Paul’s customer focus couldn’t be higher, and he absolutely deserves to be recognised for all of his great work for both the Theatre and Richmond as a whole.
