We’re delighted to have been awarded a Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Award for the third year running — thank you to all our wonderful visitors for making it possible!
The Georgian Theatre Royal has once again been awarded a Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Award for 2026 — marking the third consecutive year we have received this prestigious recognition.
The Travellers’ Choice Award is Tripadvisor’s highest honour, celebrating businesses that consistently deliver outstanding visitor experiences. Based on genuine feedback from visitors who leave first-hand reviews over a 12-month period, it places us among the top 10% of attractions worldwide and reflects the experiences of those who visit.
With over 500 reviews and a 4.9-star rating, we are also currently ranked number one out of 31 ‘Things to Do’ in Richmond.
Jo Mawhinney, Chief Executive of The Georgian Theatre Royal, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to receive the Travellers’ Choice Award for a third consecutive year. It is a real reflection of the fantastic feedback we receive from our audiences and tour visitors, and we are extremely grateful to everyone who takes the time to share their experiences online.”
She added: “This recognition also speaks volumes about our brilliant team of staff and volunteers, whose knowledge, enthusiasm and friendliness are consistently highlighted in visitor reviews. They are at the heart of everything we do.”
Among recent Tripadvisor feedback, visitors have praised our guided tours and engaging interpretation, with one reviewer commenting: “Highly knowledgeable and enthusiastic… we learned a lot about the history of this specific theatre as well as theatre generally… We would recommend this guided tour and are looking forward to returning to the theatre as audience members.”
The Georgian Theatre Royal, Britain’s oldest working theatre in its original form, continues to welcome thousands of visitors each year. Alongside our live performance programme, our guided tours offer a fascinating insight into over two centuries of theatrical history. Visitors can explore the intimate auditorium, backstage areas and exhibitions, including the UK’s oldest surviving stage scenery, the beautifully restored Woodland Scene.
Tours run Monday to Saturday from mid-February until the end of October, 10am to 4pm, with the last tour departing at 3pm. No booking is required.
