With the summer holidays upon us, we are pleased to offer two exciting workshops packed with creativity, imagination and performance.
This August, the Georgian Youth Theatre is running two inspiring events designed to build confidence, encourage creativity and bring stories to life.
The first is a week-long Summer Workshop running from Monday 3 to Saturday 8 August, aimed at young people aged 11 to 18. Throughout the week, participants will develop their acting and performance skills as they create Twisted: The Untold Story, an original production that reimagines familiar fairy tales from the villains' point of view.
Set in the long-abandoned Fairytale High Court, Twisted sees forgotten villains finally given the chance to tell their side of the story. As heroes and villains alike take the stand, well-known tales begin to unravel, revealing hidden truths, unexpected twists and the question: who decides who is the hero and who is the villain?
The Summer Workshop culminates in a public performance of Twisted on the Georgian Theatre Royal's historic stage on Saturday 8 August. The cost of the week-long course is £80.
Younger children can enjoy a magical adventure of their own with Spellbound, a one-day workshop for 6 to 10-year-olds on Tuesday 11 August. Through games, storytelling, movement and imaginative play, participants will create magical characters, make their own wands and discover a world of spell-craft and enchantment. The workshop costs £20.
Both events are led by the Theatre's Youth Theatre Officer, Lucy Booton, who is looking forward to welcoming young performers to the Theatre this summer.
Lucy said: "These workshops are all about encouraging young people to explore their creativity, build confidence and have fun in a supportive environment. Whether they're already passionate about theatre or trying it for the first time, they'll have the opportunity to develop new skills, make friends and create something really special together."
Places on both workshops are limited. To find out more or register your interest, please contact the Theatre's Youth Theatre Officer, Lucy Booton, by emailing youth@georgiantheatreroyal.co.uk.
