Free theatre show to mark the coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla

To celebrate the coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla - who are joint patrons of the Theatre - we are hosting a free show on Tuesday 9 May at 7.30pm.

Following an incredibly successful and critically acclaimed run at last year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe and a current UK tour, SHEWOLVES is a professional production aimed at young people aged 13-19 but will be of interest to any age.

Armed with a backpack full of Pop-tarts, Priya and Lou embark on a covert expedition into the wild. They want to fight back against the climate crisis and make real change, but when the wilderness closes in around them, first they have to overcome their differences and make their voices heard.

Somewhere between Booksmart, Little Miss Sunshine and Thelma & Louise, SHEWOLVES is a funny and empowering play about forging friendships when you’re a bit weird, the power of hope and the underestimated smartness of teens.

All tickets for the performance on 9 May are free. To book, visit our online booking page or call Box Office on 01748 825252.

A Royal Connection

When the Royal couple visited the Theatre in 2005, they saw a performance by the Georgian Theatre Royal Youth Theatre written for the occasion. This obviously struck a chord with their Royal Highnesses because they subsequently wrote of the Theatre:

"Perhaps one of its most impressive aspects is the way in which this Theatre of international importance remains at the heart of its local community and, through its work with young people, inspires the next generation."

"We thought it would be an appropriate gesture to offer SHEWOLVES that celebrates young people and their immense talents as a free community show to mark the coronation," said Clare Allen, the Chief Executive of The Georgian Theatre Royal.

"Hopefully, by making the show free,  it will encourage people of all ages - but especially teenagers and young adults - to come to the Theatre and enjoy a production that promises to be funny, thought-provoking and hugely enjoyable. We hope you can join us."
