We celebrated the official opening of the new auditorium last week, which has undergone a major development programme during lockdown.
Our guided tours are re-starting this week and visitors will be able to take a first look at our wonderfully improved auditorium, which has undergone a major development programme during lockdown.
The Friends of The Georgian Theatre Royal have donated £12,000 to support our Autumn Season of shows.
The Georgian Theatre Royal has received a grant of £20,000 that will not only help it to become more environmentally sustainable but will also improve air quality and heating in the building.
We are delighted to announce that the Theatre has been successful in securing a grant from the Pilgrim Trust for £24,750 to carry out heating and ventilation work.
Although the Theatre is open for tours, all performances and events have been put on hold until March 2021. Youth Theatre classes are scheduled to restart in November 2020.
It is wonderful for the Georgian to be able to reopen its doors to show people around this fascinating venue. We can not only tell them about the exciting history of the Georgian but about the thrilling plans for its future.
Visiting the theatre may be slightly different to usual so we have provided the below information to answer any questions you may have before attending. Our Front of House team will be on hand during your visit to help with any questions you have on the day.
Do I have to wear a face covering?Face coverings are now required by law so please wear masks (unless eating or drinking), or unless exempt. Children under under the age of 11 are exempt from wearing masks.
Do I need a Covid Pass?
There is currently no requirement for audience members to demonstrate their Covid status in the form of a Covid Pass to gain entry to the Theatre.
What happens if a performance is postponed or cancelled?Our Box Office team will contact you directly, and you will have the choice of a full refund or changing your tickets to a different performance (or donating your tickets to the Theatre!).
How close will I be to other people in the auditorium?All our performances are being sold at full capacity (155 seats). The Theatre has a new ventilation system that will be in full operation, pumping in 100% fresh air from outside.
Will your staff wear face coverings?Yes, our staff will be wearing face masks (except cast members while they are performing) and keeping their distance from one another as much as possible.
Will there still be spaces available for people in wheelchairs?Yes. Wheelchair spaces are available at every performance. Please contact our Box Office on 01748 825252 if there will be a wheelchair user in attendance.
How does your air ventilation work?We have a new ventilation unit that pulls in 100% fresh air from outside. Air is then extracted at the front and back of the auditorium and stage.
How often is the theatre cleaned?The Theatre and bar areas are cleaned regularly throughout the day and given a deep clean after every performance. A Theatre technician goes through the building with an industrial antiviral fogging machine.
Will I need to check in on arrival?In line with Government guidance, we recommend that every visitor aged over 16 within your group checks in by scanning the NHS Test & Trace QR code. The poster is in the box office and also on every floor.
What happens if I have to isolate and can no longer attend my performance?Please do not visit the Theatre if you, or anyone in your household, is displaying symptoms of COVID-19 – please check the NHS website. As soon as possible, please contact our Box Office team and we will provide a full refund or, if preferred, attempt to change the dates of your tickets or issue a credit voucher.
Who should I contact if I have tested positive for Coronavirus within 10 days of visiting the theatre?Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible if you receive a positive test.
Will I be contacted if someone at the Theatre tests positive for Coronavirus after my visit?If one of your fellow audience members tests positive you may receive a call from NHS Test & Trace advising you to isolate.
